Our dedicated board is composed of individuals who embody the spirit of pride and activism. We are driven by a shared vision of a world where everyone can live freely and authentically. Our board brings together a wealth of knowledge and experience, ensuring that every event we host is meaningful and impactful. Together, we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment that encourages love and acceptance for all identities.

Chadwick Shockley, Chair

Chadwick Shockley is a founding member and the Chair of Glasgow Pride, bringing his multifaceted talents as a musician, artisan, and community leader to the organization. With a lifelong career in music and the arts, Chadwick is a well-known figure in the Glasgow community, having performed at numerous local venues, including the historic Plaza Theatre. He is a former disability consultant and a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, having come out at age 28.
 
Chadwick currently serves as the Director of Music for First Presbyterian Church, as well as keeping a full schedule of private piano students. He is a passionate supporter of inclusivity and advocates for the LGBTQ+ community through his involvement with Glasgow Pride. Chadwick’s commitment to advocacy and social change is matched by his love for the arts, making him a vibrant and dedicated leader of the Pride movement.

Alicia Morgan, Secretary

Alicia Morgan is a founding member and the Secretary of Glasgow Pride. A Kentucky native, Alicia moved back to her hometown in 2015, bringing with her experience in data analysis and a passion for community advocacy. With over 7 years in the healthcare industry, she leverages her certification in Data Science to drive impactful decisions that benefit both healthcare systems and underserved populations. A dedicated activist and LGBTQ+ advocate, Alicia is committed to advancing equality and amplifying voices within her community. She also serves on the board of the local NAACP Cave Area Chapter. Outside of her professional work, Alicia is a proud mother who enjoys hiking, traveling, and adding to her ever-growing collection of plants.

Laura Burks, Director of Marketing

Laura Burks is a founding member and Director of Marketing of Glasgow Pride. Laura is a passionate advocate for equity and social justice, with a background in art, sales, and event planning. She is committed to building community and creating inclusive spaces for individuals of all backgrounds.

 

Laura works as a Renewal Manager for Salesforce, where she has led initiatives to increase workplace inclusivity through leadership in Business Resource Groups. She is also deeply invested in the development of her local community and strives to create more opportunities for connection and support for LGBTQ+ individuals in the Glasgow region. Laura is proud to help Barren County move toward being a more inclusive place to live and raise children.

J.R. Jessie, Board Member

 J.R. Jessie is a founding member of Glasgow Pride and has played an integral role in the organization’s marketing and events subcommittees. A passionate advocate for social justice, J.R. has participated in local movements like the Poor People’s Campaign and the NAACP Cave Area Chapter’s Juneteenth celebrations. He also volunteers with organizations like AJ’s Grace food pantry, contributing to the region’s social betterment.

Professionally, J.R. serves as the Media Executive for a local media company, where he collaborates with clients to deliver innovative advertising solutions. J.R. is committed to using his platform to advocate for marginalized communities, and through his work with Glasgow Pride, he continues to champion the rights of the LGBTQ+ community.

Michelle Carter, Board Member
she/her

Michelle Carter is a founding member of Glasgow pride and has been a long-time advocate for her community in Barren County, where she has worked in various volunteer capacities, including the United Way Allocations Board Committee and with Feeding America. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Michelle is committed to raising awareness about inclusion and creating a more accepting environment in her hometown.
 
Michelle holds a Master of Science in Management and works as a buyer/planner at Parker Lord. Her dedication to LGBTQ+ rights, along with her experience in local nonprofit work, makes her a valuable voice on the Glasgow Pride Board as she continues to advocate for equality and justice.

Hope Hawkins, Board Member

Hope Hawkins is a community educator and organizer based in the Cave Region of Kentucky. Her involvement with the Glasgow PRIDE Board comes from a deep belief that everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported in the places they live, work, and gather. With a background in Anthropology (BA) and Folk Studies (MA), Hope is drawn to understanding people, culture, and the stories that shape us. She is also an experienced yoga teacher (E-RYT 500) and shares mindfulness and movement in a variety of community settings, that have included local teen sports programs, public libraries, correctional facilities, and substance use recovery spaces. Through her work at Asha Yoga in Cave City, she focuses on building connection and making wellness more accessible to people of all backgrounds and abilities.

Across her work, Hope is guided by the same intention: to help create spaces that are welcoming, affirming, and grounded in care. She is committed to supporting Glasgow PRIDE as a place of visibility, belonging, and advocacy for the region.

Hope lives in Hart County with her husband, two children, five cats, and two dogs, having returned to her family farm after many years away. She believes strong communities are built through consistency, listening and holding space, and the willingness to show up for one another.

Joshua Wells-Hardy, Board Member

Josh Wells-Hardy is an experienced healthcare provider and passionate advocate for equality, inclusion, and community wellness. As a healthcare provider at TJ Samson Community Hospital, Josh has led initiatives focused on population health, integrated care, and improve access to healthcare. Driven by a mission to lead with integrity, inspire positive change, and make a meaningful impact, Josh brings a collaborative and compassionate approach to leadership. His work emphasizes creating safe, inclusive environments where individuals can thrive - both within healthcare and the broader community.

Beyond his professional role, Josh is dedicated to supporting LGTBQ+ advocacy and community engagement. He believes that visibility, education, and inclusion are essential to creating lasting progress. Josh looks forward to contributing his leadership experience and community-centered vision to the Glasgow Pride board, helping strengthen partnerships, elevate diverse voices, and celebrate the spirit of pride in Glasgow.

Beshka Moore, Treasurer

she/her

Beshka Moore has endless enthusiasm and passion to see that Glasgow Pride leave an enduring mark of equality and acceptance in our community. She is a social activist, always ready to raise her voice to protect marginalized communities while lifting up the world around her. She has served Glasgow and Bowling Green for 25 years through holistic healing modalities including teaching yoga and meditation, hosting sound baths, Reiki, group exercise and stress reduction techniques. As a yoga teacher she has served many diverse communities and strives to be a safe place for all.


Beshka graduated college with a BA in Sociology and a minor in Psychology/Women’s Studies. In addition, she has over 1,000 hours of study in yoga and meditation and earned the highest yoga accreditation as an E-RYT 500, or experienced registered yoga teacher with over 500 hours of teaching and study. She lives in Glasgow with her husband Leigh Lessenberry where they raised their two children, Chenoah and Langford. She has the most fun going for car rides and walks with her dog Pippin or hanging out with her cats Turque and Celie, or you might find her enjoying a music festival or traveling.
